Last year, on the 26th of April, I started knitting the collection "All year round cardigans" and wished myself a good journey in the forum post. It took exactly ten months, and today I decided to report on the results. Looking back, I realize that my progress is entirely unimpressive. Very little has been done, although the reasons are clear to me. Firstly, at the end of last summer, I got to my burnout point and had to take a break. I entered a Brooklyntweed contest, and it took a lot of time. Lastly, cardigans are large garments that take a long time to knit, and there have also happened numerous re-knitting. On the other hand, I've already done some work. I can say I overcome well over half of the collection.
While traveling across seas and countries, the collection has undergone changes, which I expect. New ideas are coming for such a long time; I buy new yarn, developing new techniques. And the changes are just an indicator that I am not standing still, that things are happening in my knitting life.
In the beginning, I presented nine sketches, and it was immediately apparent that one design would have to be abandoned: a collection consists only of eight designs. And that backup player was "Seashell." "Seashell" has been successfully knitted, and then "Pacific" dropped out. "Sails" replaced "Sailor" because there was a lack of a summer design for the "All year round cardigans" collection. "Horizon" took over "Beach" for one hilarious reason, which I talked about in the forum. It just fell on my head from the closet in a bag as a two-year-old unfinished and forgotten project. This way, it loudly declared, "take me, I insist!"

26-го апреля прошлого года я начала вязать коллекцию "Кардиганы круглый год" и пожелала себе доброго пути на форуме. Прошло ровно 10 месяцев, и сегодня я решила отчитаться о результатах. Смотрю назад, и понимаю, что мой прогресс совсем невпечатляющий. Сделано очень мало, хотя причины мне понятны. Первое, в конце прошлого лета я дошла до точки перегорания и должна была взять перерыв. Второе – я участвовала в конкурсе Бруклинтвида, и выпал большой кусок времени. Третье, кардиганы – большие изделия, требующие много времени для их вязания, а также случались многочисленные перевязы. С другой стороны, некоторая работа уже проделана, и можно сказать, что я подошла к жирной середине коллекции.
Во время путешествия по морям и странам, коллекция потерпела изменения, и этого стоило ожидать. За продолжительное время приходят новые идеи, покупается новая пряжа, разрабатываются новые технологии. И изменения – это лишь показатель того, что я не стою на месте, что вязальная жизнь бурлит и совершенствуется.
В начале я представила девять эскизов, и сразу было понятно, что от одного придется отказаться: в коллекции помещается лишь восемь дизайнов. И этим запасным игроком был Seashell ("Ракушка"). Seashell удачно связался, а выпал Pacific. Sailor был заменен на Sails, потому, что для коллекции "Кардиганы круглый год" не хватало летней модели. Beach заменен "Горизонтом" по одной очень смешной причине, о которой я рассказывала на форуме. Он просто выпрыгнул мне на голову из шкафа в пакете в виде забытого недовяза двухлетней давности. Таким образом громко заявил "возьми меня, настоятельно требую!"
The patterns of two cardigans have already been published. Two more are being tested, and both testings are coming to an end. We are already preparing for the next three testings, and the last one is still on the needles.
And now I am happy and excited like a child. I have been waiting for this opportunity all these ten months: to compare the sketches with finished garments. I assure you that such a comparative analysis will be a surprise to me; I've hadn't done it before. I also want to warn you that finished garments in pictures are much thicker, wider, and fuller than their sketches. And not only because I draw sketches for sizes S or M, and I knit size L. The sketch shows the cardigan, which we put on a 3D body, and the cardigan in the picture is flat. The flat garment obtains both sides and arms' volume, which disappears from view on the three-dimensional body.

А теперь я радуюсь и волнуюсь, как ребенок. Возможности сравнить эскизы с тем, что получилось в реальности, я ждала все эти десять месяцев. Уверяю, что такой сравнительный анализ будет для меня сюрпризом. Также хочется предупредить, что все готовые изделия будут гораздо толще, шире и полнее своего эскиза. И не только потому, что эскизы я рисую на размеры S или M, а вяжу размер L, но и потому, что эскиз отображает изделие, одетое на 3D тело, а расклад кардигана плоский. Расклад пополняется объемами боков и рук, которые исчезают из вида на трехмерном теле.
1. Vagabond
I am elated! It is difficult to believe - one hundred percent hit. The yarn remained the same, the only difference was that I decided to use large coat buttons, and there were one fewer of them. The pattern of the cardigan "Vagabond" has already been published. I also summed up the results of the testing in the blog.

Я ликую! Смотрю, и самой сложно поверить – стопроцентное попадание. Пряжа осталась та же, единственное отличие – я решила использовать большие пальтовые пуговицы, и их стало на одну меньше. Описание кардигана "Бродяга" уже опубликовано, также я подвела итоги тестирования в блоге.
2. Sakura
Again one hundred percent hit. The vision and idea came true without change; even the picked-up yarn remains the same. I'm very glad. Testing of the "Sakura" cardigan is coming to an end; the pattern should be published in mid-March.

3. Almanac
With "Almanac," everything is a little more complicated. I had to replace the yarn, respectively, the color changed, and, one might say, I knitted it twice. I'll tell you about that in the following post, but if you compare the sketches, I think I succeeded! The pattern of the "Almanac" jacket has already been published.

С "Альманахом" все немного сложнее. Пришлось заменить пряжу, соответственно, поменялся цвет, и, можно сказать, я его перевязала дважды. Об этом расскажу отдельным постом, а если сравнить эскизы, думаю, у меня получилось! Описание жакета "Альманах" уже опубликовано.
4. Longitude
Yes, I'm still lucky. Again one hundred percent hit if you ignore the fact that I buttoned "Longitude" to the very bottom. The yarn has not changed, and even though, at the very end of knitting, I realized that I'm short of 20 grams of yarn for the button band. Because of that, almost the entire cardigan had to be unraveled and re-knitted. "Longitude" testing has reached its middle; the pattern will be published at the end of March.

Да, пока мне везет. Опять стопроцентное попадание, если не обращать внимание на то, что я застегнула "Долготу" до самого низа. Пряжа не изменилась, и хоть во время вязания я поняла, что мне не хватит 20 граммов пряжи для планки застежки. Из-за этого пришлось перевязать почти весь кардиган. Тестирование Longitude достигло середины, описание выйдет в конце марта.
5. Latitude
I replaced the yarn with a thicker one. For this reason, the lines are more scattered. Patch pockets have replaced slit pockets, and "Latitude" is now buttoned to the very bottom. Otherwise, everything is very, very similar. I'm glad! Testing of the "Latitude" cardigan will begin soon.

Произошла замена пряжи на более толстую. По этой причине линии стали шире. Прорезные карманы заменены накладными, а застегивается "Широта" теперь до низа. В остальном все очень и очень похоже. Я довольна! Тестирование кардигана Latitude скоро начнется.
6. Seashell
"Seashell," an outsider of the collection, showed character and was one of the first to get finished. I can't add anything – again, I hit the bull's-eye (why am I buttoning everything to the very bottom?), although I replaced the yarn. "Seashell" testing will begin in late April or early May.

"Ракушка", аутсайдер коллекции, показала характер и связалась одной из первых. Ничего не могу добавить – опять я попала в яблочко (почему я все застегиваю до низа?), хотя произошла замена пряжи. Тестирование Seashell начнется в конце апреля или в начале мая.
7. Horizon
A new piece of the collection, which not only found its well-deserved place but also served as a platform for me to experiment. The first time I designed a set-in seamless sleeve in a circular yoke. "Horizon" testing will begin in April.

8. Sails
With "Sails," the situation is much sadder. The comparative analysis will be incomplete. I have not finished it yet, although I should have. As always, I made every possible mistake that could be made, and there was only one way to fix them: start all over again. It's hard to get together, hands don't lift, but because of that, there is time to write all sorts of exciting and not very exciting knitting stories!

С "Парусами" дела обстоят гораздо печальнее. Сравнительный анализ будет неполноценным, я пока его не связала, хотя должна была. Как всегда, я сделала все возможные ошибки, которые только было можно сделать, а их исправить можно было лишь одним способом: начать все заново. Морально собраться тяжело, руки не поднимаются, но зато есть время писать всякие интересные и не очень интересные вязальные истории!
